Madills Farm

|

The area now known as Madills Farm used to be part of a 119 acre dairy farm in the area leased by William Madill. Prior to that the general area was known to the Maori as Waipara ra “duck water” as the area would have been largely raupo swamp where native grey duck lived.

Madills Farm is the home of the Eastern Suburbs Football Club and became an off-leash dog exercise area in 2004. Your dog can have full run of the place but must stay off any fields that are in use and away from the playground. It’s a large flat area which is great for giving your pup a really good run around. Great with the ball thrower!

There are tracks that circle the park that provide a bit of structure to your walk otherwise it’s great for a bit of a wander. It’s fairly popular so you’ll probably bump into another dog owner but we didn’t find it as busy as some other areas.

Madills Farm is located in Kohimarama making it a great spot for a regular run about for those that live near by. On-street parking can be found around Madills farm.

Location: Braddeley Ave, Kohimarama

Snowy’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A large off leash area in a good central location, who can complain? Certainly not your pup - it’s a great space for them to have a run about. Just take a hat on a sunny day, it’s mostly out in the open.

✔️ Great if your dog loves fetch!
✔️ Family friendly
